Today’s walk leader is Audrey (not on Meetup) :
Lunch 12:00 Walk starts 1.30 pm
I have booked a table for 6 at The Vale in Adlington Road, Bollington SK10 5JT. From Poynton follow the A523 south towards Macclesfield. At the traffic lights near the Legh Arms turn left into Brookledge Lane. After one mile turn right ( signposted ‘Bollington’ but the sign is slightly obscured by a branch) into Sugar Lane. This will lead you directly down to the pub which will be on the left hand side at the bottom of the hill in Adlington Road. There is a small car park opposite near a playground or roadside parking if this is full. Alternatively drive up to Palmerston Street and turn left. There is a larger car park at Pool Bank.
(From Macclesfield the B5091 to Bollington will be closed for roadworks but the B5090 will be open; follow the main road through Bollington. After the Coop on the left hand side, go under the viaduct and left just before the ‘Dog and Partridge’ signposted ‘Middlewood Way’. The pub is 100 m on the right hand side).
There does not appear to be a Sunday bus service to Bollington.
The walk is between 4 and 5 miles along the viaduct to begin with and over fields followed by a gentle ascent up to Kerridge Ridge; along to White Nancy and down the steps to eventually return to the pub.
Every Sunday throughout the year, Manchester IVC has a walk which starts off at 1.30 pm prompt, and is usually 4-5 miles …. something like that. We meet at a local pub or restaurant and the walk will either start from there or somewhere nearby. As well as the walk itself, there is the option to meet for a meal or a drink before the walk and/or after the walk for those who wish. You will be able to see from the location and the walk description whether or not the walk is going to be suitable for you – but the idea is that all on the walk will benefit from enjoyable exercise and a good social.
Please make sure you are wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and terrain – the walk leader will always have the right to decide on the day if someone is not appropriately dressed. The walk leaders are all members of the club and are volunteers.
There are car share options available, so if you are stuck for a lift, just add a note here and we’ll do our level best to help.
There are usually between 10 to 20 walkers dependent on the weather and location – so by all means come along and join in. It’s a great gateway to the rest of the club, you can talk to new and established members and find out about the full range of events we have on in Manchester every month.
The walks are very popular, so please RSVP if you plan to attend and we’ll make sure you’re made to feel very welcome !
