Sunday Lunch and Afternoon Walk Along Kerridge Hill From Bollington to Rainow

12 noon (pub) or 1.30 pm (walk). Today’s leader is Mike H.

An easy and mostly flat walk of less than 4 miles, with fine views for most of the way, a climb halfway round and a steep descent at the end (down steps). There is street parking around the pub but the easiest place to park is the free Pool Bank car park off Palmerston St (B5090). It’s towards the top end of the town, on the left-hand side once you’ve gone under the high aqueduct over the road.

Meet at the Church House Inn on Church St (SK10 5PY) at 12 noon to eat before the walk or at 1.30 outside for the walk itself. Food also available when we get back. I’ve booked a table for 4 at noon but if you let me know by Fri 24 May that you plan to eat before the walk, I’ll try and make sure we can all sit together. Please allow plenty of time for parking/finding the start as Bollington is a maze of narrow streets and parking can be quite tight.

Every Sunday throughout the year, Manchester IVC has a walk which starts off at 1.30 pm prompt, and is usually 4-5 miles …. something like that. We meet at a local pub or restaurant and the walk will either start from there or somewhere nearby. As well as the walk itself, there is the option to meet for a meal or a drink before the walk and/or after the walk for those who wish. You will be able to see from the location and the walk description whether or not the walk is going to be suitable for you – but the idea is that all on the walk will benefit from enjoyable exercise and a good social.

Please make sure you are wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and terrain – the walk leader will always have the right to decide on the day if someone is not appropriately dressed. The walk leaders are all members of the club and are volunteers.

There are car share options available, so if you are stuck for a lift, just add a note here and we’ll do our level best to help.

There are usually between 10 to 20 walkers dependent on the weather and location – so by all means come along and join in. It’s a great gateway to the rest of the club, you can talk to new and established members and find out about the full range of events we have on in Manchester every month.

The walks are very popular, so please RSVP if you plan to attend and we’ll make sure you’re made to feel very welcome !
