Lunch: 12 noon at the Norfolk Arms, 2 Town Street, Marple Bridge SK6 5DS
Walk: starts 1.30pm outside the pub, length about 5.5 miles to Mellor and back along the Goyt valley (likely to be muddy in places). This is a hilly area so please be prepared to climb a couple of steep hills. We may stop for a drink at the Roman Lakes cafe on the way back.
Directions: from Stockport, follow the A626 up through Marple, forking left at the traffic lights and down the hill to Marple Bridge. The pub is at the bottom of the hill on the right. It’s handy for Marple station (trains from M/Cr) and also the 383/384 bus routes from Stockport. Brabyns Brow car park is on the right shortly before the bottom of the hill. It was being resurfaced in January but should be finished by the time of this walk and is hopefully still free.
