A 7 mile walk with around 700′ of ascent in Dovedale, one of the Peak District’s most scenic areas, also taking in parts of Wolfscote Dale and Beresford Dale. Likely to be muddy if this summer’s rain continues…
It starts from the village of Alstonefield, which has several small free car parks which are well signposted. The Memorial Hall car park is the largest one and we’ll meet and leave from there at 12.30 but just round the corner is another small car park with toilets.
We’ll go for a drink at The George pub in Alstonefield afterwards. It serves food from 6pm onwards and I propose to book a table on the day for those who want to eat (when we know how many travel all this way).
This is a joint walk with Birmingham IVC. It’s around 50 miles from Manchester so lift-sharing is recommended.
