19:45 depart for stroll, meet from 19:00 for drinks, The White Hart Pub, 170 Hyde Road, Woodley, SK6 1NP, phone 0161 430, 7616
There is an optional pub dinner at 18:30 but let me know in advance otherwise I may not be there. Otherwise meet in the pub for preamble drinks or outside ready for departure.
The walk is easy but with a flight of steps and about 5.5 miles long (in a figure 8 with an option to do half and avoid the steps), following parts of the Cheshire Ring Canal Way and the Tame Valley Way and an optional canal tunnel at the end (torches required). This is a waterside walk so come prepared for mud, depending upon the weather.
Directions: The White Hart Pub is on the A560 shortly before Woodley Train Station when travelling from Stockport. Customer’s car parks either side of pub and there is ample street parking if not using the pub.
