Today’s walk leader is Tom P (not on Meetup) :
Five miles, mostly flat (apart from the rickety stiles) on roads, tracks and paths around Lymm and Statham. Could be muddy or all sorts of things; come prepared.
Food is available from 12:00 at ‘The Spread Eagle’, beside the Lower Dam.
The walk starts at half past one (13:30) from Lymm Cross, in the centre of Lymm village (SJ 683873). From the A56, the Altrincham-Warrington Road, turn down Rectory Lane (opposite St Mary’s church and Aiden Byrne’s Church Green pub) which is just East of the Upper Dam. Follow this road for 1/4 mile whereupon the sandstone Cross is visible on the left and the car park is up the cobbled road to the right. All Lymm car parks are pay and display, but parking is free on this, a Bank Holiday.
I think that access is best via the M56 J9/A556/A56 junction which hasstabilised but does lead to some unexpected manouevres from other drivers, such as exiting a roundabout direct from the right-hand lane. Take care, follow the signs for A56 Lymm, and let other cars have their own accidents!
