TALKS EVENT 8pm on Friday 5 March 2021 by TARIQ RIEBL
TODAY’S INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN SECTOR
Tonight’s guest speaker, Tariq Riebl, has conducted more than 200 TV, radio and print interviews in English, French and German with most major media outlets, including Al-Jazeera, the BBC, The Economist, the New York Times, RFI and others.
Tariq will talk about key challenges facing the humanitarian sector, along with personal anecdotes of his own experiences ‘in the field’ in Yemen (and elsewhere time permitting, such as in Lebanon and Afghanistan). With the current global situation and first world governments, including our own, cutting international aid budgets while ‘circling the wagons’ for self protection, this event could not be more timely. This is an opportunity to get an insight into the world of international humanitarian work – what really goes on and what can be done in the best interests of humanity as a whole in these challenging times.
Tariq is a former Senior Co-ordination Officer at the United Nations Ebola Emergency Response Office and former Field Director with the International Rescue Committee who has led teams for well known NGO’s and agencies in most of the major disaster areas of the last decade. (Including for Oxfam, Medecins Sans Frontieres, Afghan Aid and the International Rescue Committee). In demand by international news networks for interviews, we will have our own opportunity to ask questions following this talk.
Join other members and friends this evening in enjoying this engrossing talk by Tariq, who will also answer your questions afterwards.
